The UN Information Centre in partnership with the Directorate of Tourism and Culture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa opened a photo exhibition at Nishtar Hall to raise awareness about the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The photo exhibition, comprising 102 photos from all over Pakistan, is a joint project of Agence France-Presse (AFP), the European Union and the United Nations and was supported by the Embassy of France in Pakistan and UK Aid. The photos have been organized in 17 collections according to the 17 SDGs.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Tariq Khan, Secretary Tourism and Culture, Amélie Herenstein, AFP Bureau Chief for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Andre de Bussy, Counselor for Development at the Embassy of France, Vittorio Cammarota, Director UN Information Centre and Cultural Affairs and Mushtaq Ahmed, Managing Director Tourism Corporation.

Amélie Herenstein said AFP Pakistan deliberately chose to focus on the human angle of the story, showing the reality of life as it is for millions of Pakistanis.

Speaking to the audience, Muhammad Luqman, Director General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s SDG Unit said the attainment of SDGs is everyone’s responsibility to save our population from poverty, inequalities and climate pitfalls. Together with academia, civil society, students and the private sector, the government can materialize this dream, he added.

“We are honoured to bring this outstanding exhibition to Peshawar. It provides the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with an unprecedented opportunity to expand their knowledge and understanding of development in Pakistan,” Cammarota said.

Students from the University of Peshawar, Sarhad University and CECOS University of IT and Emerging Sciences participated in the event and took keen interest in the exhibition.
